Rationale of the game

It is about getting your sense of directions right.

Objective of the game

To go back to the “HOME” position (where you started from), by using all available pawns, and as fast as you can.
 
Minimum players
One.

You can play it on your own, or you can team up with your family members/friends to help each other in figuring out how to go back HOME. You can also compete with different players/group of plays to see who can finish the same set of game in the shortest timing.

Compass-Chess edition is a double-player game

How to play?
Get your directions right first!


North (N) n
North East (NE) ne


South (S) s
North West (NW) nw


East (E) e
South East (NE) se


West (W) w
South West (SW) sw


Secondly, get your number of steps correct:

By placing:

n1 means your next pawn is to be placed 1 Step North of your current pawn;
s1 means your next pawn is to be placed 1 Step South of your current pawn;
e1 means your next pawn is to be placed 1 Step East of your current pawn;
w11 means your next pawn is to be placed 1 Step West of your current pawn;

Would look like this in practice:

Similarly, by placing:
n2 means your next pawn is to be placed 2 Steps North of your current pawn;
s2 means your next pawn is to be placed 2 Steps South of your current pawn;
e2 means your next pawn is to be placed 2 Steps East of your current pawn;
w21 means your next pawn is to be placed 2 Steps West of your current pawn;

Likewise:
ne1 means your next pawn is to be placed 1 Step North-East of your current pawn;
nw1 means your next pawn is to be placed 1 Step North-West of your current pawn;
se1 means your next pawn is to be placed 1 Step South-East of your current pawn;
sw1 means your next pawn is to be placed 1 Step South-West of your current pawn;

Similarly for 2 steps:

ne2 means your next pawn is to be placed 2 Steps North-East of your current pawn;
nw2 means your next pawn is to be placed 2 Steps North-West of your current pawn;
se2 means your next pawn is to be placed 2 Steps South-East of your current pawn;
sw2 means your next pawn is to be placed 2 Steps South-West of your current pawn;

Start playing by “Placing” ANY pawn at the center of the imaginative square”grid”, and treat it as a “HOME” position.

Remember, the objective of this game is to try to go back to “HOME” position as fast as you can with any available number of pawns. Have fun!
